One card for each display on the panel. Choose its size, model and screen on the card; add as many as the panel holds. Everything else the system needs follows from them.

Installation Build-A-System Guide, p. 4, Step 1A

A new installation buys the AXIS sensors. Choose Upgrade if the aircraft already flies a G3X Touch: its ADAHRS, magnetometer and OAT probe carry over.

IFR GPS and radio in the 11.6 in. display installation manual 190-03123-20 Rev. 4, §1.2.1, table 1-2; §3.1.1.3

The GDU 116BX has a VFR GPS only. For IFR, one 11.6 in. display can be a GDU 116C (IFR GPS, COM radio and audio panel built in) or a GDU 116NC (the same plus a NAV radio); the price shown is the difference.

System sensors (ADAHRS, magnetometer, OAT probe) installation manual 190-03123-20 Rev. 4, §3.3.2.1, tables 3-5 to 3-7

The ADAHRS gives the displays attitude and air data, the magnetometer gives heading, and the OAT probe gives outside air temperature. Standard suits most kit aircraft; choose High performance for over 300 knots or beyond the GSU 25C's limits.

Additional ADAHRS installation manual 190-03123-20 Rev. 4, §1.2.2

Up to three ADAHRS can be installed. Each display can show a different one, any display can be switched to any of them, and the system compares them and flags a disagreement. Match the first: a GSU 25D where it is over 300 knots.

GPS antenna Choose one installation manual 190-03123-20 Rev. 4, §3.1.3.1, tables C-41 and C-43

The displays need a GPS antenna. One mounted outside on top of the fuselage gives the best reception; the glareshield antenna sits inside under the windshield and suits the GDU 116BX's VFR GPS.

Engine and airframe interface Choose one installation manual 190-03123-20 Rev. 4, §1.2.7, table 3-7

The engine and airframe interface reads the engine sensors (temperatures, pressures, fuel) and shows them on the AXIS. The GEA 24B mounts behind the panel; the GEA 110 mounts forward of the firewall. Choose None if the engine has its own monitor.

GFC 500X autopilot servos installation manual 190-03123-20 Rev. 4, §1.2.12.1, table 3-7

The GFC 500X autopilot's servos move the controls. Roll only holds the wings level and follows a course; pitch and roll also holds altitude and climbs or descends; a third servo adds a yaw damper.

Pitot/AOA probe (GAP 26) installation manual 190-03123-20 Rev. 4, §1.2.4, §1.2.6, tables 3-4 and 3-7

A pitot probe that also measures angle of attack, for the displays' AOA indicator. Choose heated for flight in visible moisture, at your aircraft's voltage.

Remote transponder installation manual 190-03123-20 Rev. 4, §1.2.13

A transponder mounted behind the panel and run from the displays. ADS-B Out is required in most controlled airspace; ADS-B In adds traffic and weather on the displays. The version with GPS brings its own GPS antenna.

Datalink (ADS-B In, SiriusXM) installation manual 190-03123-20 Rev. 4, §1.2.14.1, table 3-7

A receiver for traffic and weather on the displays: ADS-B In needs no subscription in the United States; SiriusXM weather is a paid subscription. Skip it if a transponder above already gives ADS-B In.

Optional

Extras that work with the AXIS. None is needed to fly; tick any you want and they join the list.
