One card for each display on the panel. Choose its size, model and screen on the card; add as many as the panel holds. Everything else the system needs follows from them.

Garmin G5

Installation kit (one for each G5) G5 installation manual 190-02072-01 Rev. 10, §3.3.1, tables 1-1, 3-1 and 3-3

The parts each G5 needs to install: connector, mounting ring and screws. The kit with the lightning protection module is for composite aircraft or where Garmin calls for it.

Backup battery (up to 4 hours) G5 installation manual 190-02072-01 Rev. 10, §1.2, table 1-1

A battery inside the G5 that keeps it running for up to four hours if the aircraft's electrical system fails, one for each G5.

Magnetic heading (GMU 11 magnetometer) Choose one G5 installation manual 190-02072-01 Rev. 10, §3.1, appendix D, tables D-1 and D-2

Without a magnetometer the G5 shows GPS track, not magnetic heading. The GMU 11 gives true heading and lets the G5 work out wind.

Outside air temperature (GAD 13 with GTP 59 probe) G5 installation manual 190-02072-01 Rev. 10, appendix A, table A-1

An outside air temperature probe lets the G5 show true airspeed, outside air temperature and, with the magnetometer, wind.

External GPS antenna (the G5's own antenna does in many installations) G5 installation manual 190-02072-01 Rev. 10, §1.5.2, table 4-2

The G5 has its own GPS antenna, enough in many installations. Add an external antenna if it cannot see the sky well from the panel.

Autopilot servos (GSA 28) driven by the G5 G5 installation manual 190-02072-01 Rev. 10, §8.4.7.1, appendix E

With a GFC 500 mode controller, the G5 drives Garmin's GSA 28 servos. Roll only holds the wings level and follows a course; pitch and roll also holds altitude; a third servo adds a yaw damper.
