Garmin announced a new family of flight displays, named AXIS, on July 8, 2026. Its distinguishing feature is integration: Garmin says an AXIS display can include a built-in IFR GPS, a NAV/COMM radio and audio panel capability, which the company calls an industry first.

The displays
Garmin lists three sizes: an 11.6-inch landscape display, an 8-inch portrait display and an 8-inch landscape display. Each has a touchscreen and physical controls, and each can be set up as a primary flight display or a multi-function display, with an engine indication system as an option.
The 11.6-inch display comes in three certified variants. The base version is a flight display alone. The GPS/COMM and GPS/NAV/COMM versions add an IFR GPS and an integrated audio panel. Garmin gives the VHF COMM radio 10 watts of transmit power and 8.33 kHz tuning.
Which aircraft
Garmin says AXIS is for certified piston singles and twins, through an approved model list supplemental type certificate covering hundreds of models, and for experimental and light-sport aircraft. Experimental and light-sport aircraft can use both the certified and the non-TSO versions of the 11.6-inch display.
For a panel that already has, or was planned for, G3X Touch
Garmin states that AXIS is compatible with many of the same navigators, radios, modules and sensors as G3X Touch, and that it uses the same panel cutouts and mounting points. A panel already laid out around G3X Touch displays would, on that statement, need no new cutout for the display itself.
Availability
At the announcement Garmin said the 11.6-inch displays had achieved FAA and EASA Technical Standard Order authorization and would be available in July 2026. The 8-inch displays are expected in early 2027. Garmin's notes list a certified twin engine indication system, the 8-inch displays and GFC 600 autopilot compatibility as coming soon.
