Flight Window: find the best dates for your trip

A new tool under Tools. Enter a round trip and your tail number, and Flight Window checks both legs and the stay against the next seven days and names the best dates, with weather, wind, runway, fuel, daylight, TFRs and airport remarks behind them. It does not check NOTAMs or winds aloft yet, and it is not a briefing.

Quick entry and voice notes in the Builders Log

Quick entry is one short page for the end of a shop session: record a voice note, add a photo or type a few words, and press Save. It opens on today, in the section you worked in last, and the rest can be filled in later. A voice note stays with its entry with the day and time it was recorded, private to you, and is in your export. One at the start and one at the end of a session offer the hours between them. On a weak signal the entry stays on your phone and is sent when it can be. Under Project, Reminder can email you when the log has gone quiet; it is off until you choose it.

A tall photograph now fills the Facebook post

When the main photograph of a listing is taller than it is wide, the Marketplace’s Facebook post and a shared link now show the whole photograph across the card. Nothing to do; the listing page keeps your photograph as it is.

Lycoming service bulletins, instructions and letters, read every night

Lycoming’s service bulletins, service instructions and service letters are now read every night, with their revisions. When a new one names your engine, or is written for Lycoming engines generally, you are emailed that night, once for each document. A document a manufacturer releases again with a new date, from any manufacturer, is emailed again; the same release never is. Record your engine on the aircraft’s Equipment page so the documents can find it.

Van’s Aircraft and Rotax service documents, read every night, and emailed when new

Van’s Aircraft’s service documents and Rotax’s alert service bulletins, service bulletins, service instructions and service letters are now read every night, with their revisions. When a new one names your aircraft’s model or a part recorded on it, you are emailed that night, once for each document. Record your engine, propeller and equipment on each aircraft’s Equipment page so the documents can find them.

Each aircraft's page shows that aircraft for sale

Every aircraft page under Panel templates now has a "for sale" section. The Cessna 172 page shows 172s listed on the Hangar Flying Marketplace, the RANS S-7S page shows S-7s, and so on, each with its photograph, price and where it is. Selling one? List an aircraft is right there.

Weight and balance from each aircraft, and the envelope chart in the workbook

Each aircraft in MRO now has Weight & balance in its menu and a card on its page, and each Builders Log project has it in its row: either opens the calculator for that aircraft with its saved calculations. The Excel workbook’s Loading tab now carries the envelope chart under the loading.

Weight and balance: save a calculation to one of your aircraft

Weight and balance: your own loading rows, fuel tanks and an Excel workbook

Name each loading row yourself, up to 12, and each fuel tank, up to 4, each with its own arm. Download the calculations as one Excel workbook with four tabs: the weighing, the loading, the totals and CG, and the envelope check, its working kept as formulas.

Weight and balance: look the aircraft up by its N-number

Type the N-number and press Look it up: the FAA registry fills in the make and model and the serial. For a type-certificated aircraft it links the Type Certificate Data Sheet, where the datum, the CG range and the maximum weight are written.

Weight and balance: from the weighing to the POH

Enter each wheel’s scale reading, tare and arm, and the calculator works the empty weight and CG. Enter the kit manufacturer’s envelopes by their corners, normal, utility and aerobatic, and every loading is checked against each real shape. Everything is worked out as you type. Test & Validation: the operating handbook data and the completion entry

The operating handbook data is worked from your signed test flights, each figure with the flight it came from, ready to print for the aircraft. The completion entry fills in AC 90-89C’s statement with VS0, VX, VY and the weight and CG they were found at; you sign it, and it goes into the aircraft’s maintenance records in MRO.

A weight and balance calculator in Tools

Enter the empty weight and CG, the limits, and each station’s weight and arm: the calculator gives the weight and CG, says whether it is inside the limits, and draws it against the envelope with where the CG goes as the fuel burns. A loading can be sent as a link.

Test & Validation: a test plan written from your whole aircraft

The plan now asks about the engine, the fuel system, the airframe, the weight and balance, the kit’s published numbers, the avionics, the test pilot and the home airport’s runway, filling in what the site already holds. Each answer shapes the cards: fuel flow per tank at the right percentage, your runway against the AC’s length for its elevation, the ballast steps to gross, and cards for an autopilot, ADS-B Out, aerobatics and IFR.

Test & Validation: record your test flights

Record each test flight with the fields of the FAA’s sample flight test card, and each test card flown on it: the numbers it asks for, satisfactory or repeat, and comments. Signing a flight marks its satisfactory cards done; its hours and takeoffs and landings count toward your operating limitations.

Test & Validation: a Phase 1 flight test plan for your aircraft

Answer a few questions from your operating limitations and the site writes your aircraft’s own test plan from AC 90-89C: the ground tests, taxi tests, first flight, envelope expansion, stability and performance, in the order they are flown. Each card says what, why and how, with your own speeds, and is recorded as done.
