Van's takes RV-12iS Dynon panel orders through Nov. 6, then turns to Garmin builds

Van's RV-12iS avionics order form says its Avionics Division will shift to building Garmin panels in late 2026 and into 2027, and it will accept orders for Dynon panels through Nov. 6, 2026. The form also says a builder ordering the Rotax 912 ULS engine may order only the Dynon suite.

An RV-12iS builder still choosing between a Dynon and a Garmin panel from Van's has until Friday. A note on Van's RV-12iS avionics order form says the company's Avionics Division "will be shifting focus to build for Garmin panels during the latter part of 2026" and into 2027, and that "orders for Dynon panels will be accepted through November 6, 2026."

What the form offers now

Both suites are on the form today, priced as additions to the kit. The Dynon SkyView HDX system package is $25,500 and the Garmin G3X Touch system package $25,900. A second screen is $5,100 with either. Dynon's autopilot servos are $2,400 with a $1,300 knob module; Garmin's servos are $2,350 with an $1,800 GMC 507 autopilot controller. The Dynon ADS-B In option is $1,050, and powder-coated panels are $750 for a single screen and $785 for two, in either maker's layout. A Garmin G3X IFR package is $49,500 and is offered with the 912 iS Sport engine only.

The engine catch

The same form says that a builder ordering the Rotax 912 ULS engine "may only order the Dynon avionics suite." Van's note doesn't say what a ULS builder will be offered after Nov. 6, or whether Dynon panels will come back. A builder in that position should ask Van's before the date, not after.

What it doesn't say

The note is on the RV-12iS order form. It doesn't say whether Van's builds for other models change, and Van's hasn't published a news release about it that Hangar Debrief could find. Orders placed by Nov. 6 are the ones the form promises to take; it gives no word on how long they will take to build. Builders on the Van's Air Force forum have a thread on it, "Move from Dynon to Garmin highly likely."

The note is about panels Van's builds. It says nothing about Dynon's own sales, so a builder who wires a panel isn't touched by it.
