Toggle switches and circuit breakers

A toggle switch is one instrument in several colors and lever positions, and a circuit breaker is one instrument in every rating. Each shows once in the instrument search, and you choose the color, position or rating on its card.

Add a toggle switch

  1. Type "toggle" in the Search instruments by keyword box. The results show one Toggle Switch and one Mini Toggle Switch.
  2. Click the one you want. On its card, choose the Color: plain, white, red, blue, green, yellow or black. For the full-size switch, also choose the Position of the lever: Down, Center (pointing straight out, as on a three-position switch), Up, Left or Right. Point at a color to see its name.
  3. Press Add and click on the panel where it goes. Or double-click the tile in the results to add it at once.

Add a circuit breaker

  1. Type "breaker" in the search box. The Klixon 7277, the Tyco W31 and the E-T-A 413-K14-LN2 each show once.
  2. Click the one you want. On its card, choose the Rating in amperes. The Klixon and the Tyco come in 1, 2, 3, 5, 7.5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 or 35. The E-T-A 413 is the larger push-pull breaker for a bus, an alternator or a motor: 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 60, 70, 80 or 90.
  3. Press Add and click on the panel where it goes.

Add a Rocker Switch Pros custom rocker switch

  1. Type "rocker" in the search box and click the Custom Rocker Switch from Rocker Switch Pros (its cap reads CUSTOM).
  2. On its card, design the cap: the Cap color (black or red), a Symbol (or none), your Words on Line 1 and Line 2 (14 letters each), the Top light that backlights the symbol and words (off, a white lamp or a colored LED) and the bottom Lens (none, oval, bar or arrow). The picture shows it as you go.
  3. Choose the switch body under it: the Switch (ON-OFF, ON-ON, ON-OFF-ON, the momentary ones, with how many terminals) and the Bottom light that lights the lens (a white lamp, or a blue, red, cool white, green, amber or bright red LED, where that switch comes with it). The top and the bottom can be lit in different colors.
  4. The card's Price is the custom cover's and the switch body's together, each named. Press Add and click on the panel where it goes.

Everything you chose is kept with the switch when you save. On the bill of materials the custom covers are one line, and each switch body is a line of its own with Rocker Switch Pros' part number and the design of the cover it goes under, so they can be ordered as listed.

Change one already on the panel

  1. Double-click the switch or breaker. Or select it and press the button under its details on the right: Change color or position for a toggle switch, Change color for a mini toggle switch, Change rating for a breaker, Change design, switch or light for a Rocker Switch Pros custom rocker switch.
  2. A small box opens beside it with the same choices. Choose another color, position or rating.
  • Several at once. Select several switches, or several breakers of the same kind, then open the box from one of them. The box says All and the number selected change together.
  • A switch keeps its mounting hole where it was on the panel, whichever way its lever points. A breaker keeps its place and its size.
  • A locked one does not change. The box says so; unlock it first. See Lock and unlock instruments.
  • Undo takes back the change in one step.
  • Esc, or a click anywhere else, closes the box. Drag the box by its top edge if it is in your way.

The knob is one instrument in five sizes: 0.50, 0.625, 0.70, 0.75 and 1.00 inch. It shows once in the search. Select a placed knob and press Change size, under its details, to choose another; it stays centered where it was.

On the bill of materials, each color, position, rating and knob size is a line of its own. To label a switch or a breaker, see Placards. For a display's size and screen, see Choose a display's size, model and screen.
